 Cork: This flooring is made from the trimmed bark from cork oak trees — which grows back in 9 years — leaving the tree and the forest floor undamaged. What’s more, the finished material also makes use of recycled wine and champagne corks, giving it additional points for sustainability.

Bamboo: This sustainably harvested grass regenerates about eight times faster than typical hardwood. Bamboo matures rapidly, and harvesting does not kill the plant. Woven bamboo floors are stronger and more durable than regular bamboo floors, and reuses leftover materials from traditional bamboo flooring.

 Certified wood: Certain companies have gone through the effort to be certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council. FSC-certified wood is harvested in accordance to strict standards and can include tigerwood, beech, hickory and American cherry. This flooring is even greener when they are covered with eco-friendly finishes that contain no VOCs, solvents or formaldehyde agents.
